There seem to be two ways people react (in terms of training) when they have an injury:
- They stop doing any exercise because they think everything will be painful.
- They keep doing painful exercises because they assume that’s just how their joint is.
I have trained a lot of people with injuries at Custom Strength because we get a lot of referrals from health care practitioners. Our training approach when someone comes to us with an injury is to create a custom workout program that hits the sweet spot where they get a great workout and it doesn’t bother their injured joint.
Our clients are often pleasantly surprised this was possible. Since not everyone comes and trains with us at Custom Strength, I decided to create a quick summary of the “rules” we follow when someone comes to us and wants to train and also has a shoulder injury.
